Duraid Wadie - Head of M&A Architecture at Ideagen

About Duraid Wadie

Head of M&A Architecture at Ideagen | 25+ Years of Technology Leadership

My journey into technology began with a simple fascination: understanding how code could solve real business problems. For over two decades, I built enterprise systems, led development teams, and designed architectures that powered global SaaS platforms. But the real transformation in my career came when I discovered that the most valuable insights weren't just in writing better code they were in understanding how technology drives valuations, shapes acquisitions, and determines whether a business is ready to scale.

At Ideagen, I witnessed this firsthand. I joined as a Principal Developer, building enterprise Audit & Risk products used by 400+ organizations worldwide. As the company scaled through dozens of acquisitions and was itself acquired by Hg Capital in a transaction valued at over £1 billion, I evolved from hands-on development to Enterprise Architect, then Senior Architect, and ultimately to Head of M&A Architecture. Each role taught me something critical: technology due diligence isn't just about evaluating code it's about identifying risk, validating scalability, and turning technical readiness into competitive advantage.

Over 24+ M&A projects, I've learned that every acquisition is unique, but the fundamentals are constant. Private equity firms, corporate development teams, and SaaS leaders need clear visibility into what they're buying. Is the product ready to scale? Does the architecture support growth? Where are the hidden risks? My framework categorizes products into "ready-to-scale," "requires remediation," or "legacy-risk" giving investors, boards, and executives the clarity they need to make confident decisions.

In my role at Ideagen, I focus on preparing organizations for their next phase whether that means being acquired, going public, or moving into private equity ownership. My work involves leading technology and product due diligence, designing integration strategies, assessing security and compliance frameworks, and building roadmaps that align technical investments with business objectives. Through this experience, I've learned how to turn complexity into clarity and risk into opportunity.

What drives me is the intersection of deep technical expertise and strategic insight. I understand the code behind the strategy, the architecture behind the valuation, and the governance frameworks that protect value. From cloud migrations to AI transformation, from security diligence to post-merger integration, I bridge the gap between engineering teams and executive boards ensuring that technology decisions support long-term growth and successful exits.
